PKLD Resident Course Students at UN Headquarters in New York
This two-week short course concentrates on the latest legal and organizational developments in the field of peacekeeping. Direct interaction with officials from the United Nations, peacekeeping partner nations, and U.S. subject matter experts in peacekeeping operations, provides participants with the latest in legal considerations in this fast-changing area. Recent case studies which course participants study include developments in peacekeeping operations in Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, and Somalia.

Recommended Attendees:

This program is intended for senior civilian officials, faculty members of national peacekeeping training centers or war colleges, staff military legal advisors, and those who have a need to be current in trends and developments in preparation for impending assignments in peacekeeping operations.

Course Focus:

This course is intensely focused on the study of recent developments in peacekeeping missions, policies and doctrinal directives for peacekeepers. Participants visit with United Nations staff members while visiting United Nations Headquarters in New York during this program.
